First of all, thanks to everyone in the community who I’ve gotten to know. Second, if I didn’t recognize your name, it might just be that your Twitter name is different than your Twitch name. Either way, it’s a great opportunity for me to get to know you better.

One of the OG Girls on Fire, congrats on your amazing news from last week! You have always encouraged me to try new things and I can’t thank you enough for getting me more involved with GDQ. In some ways, I can attribute a lot of my success to you, so thank you!

I didn’t recognize the name, and your twitter is all in Dutch, but your profile pic looks very nice and smiley!

Hey, I saw you at GDQ but I never got to say hi! We should fix that sometime!

Thanks for always making me laugh when you come into chat, it wouldn’t be the same without you. Never stop chasing your dream of becoming an author, you can do it!

You are like a little sister to me and I’m so glad that we have been able to spend so much time together. You are funny, kind, and have taught me a lot about being up front and assertive. I laugh so much when I’m with you. I know you are going to be just fine heading out on your own.

I missed you and your memes at this GDQ, and it wasn’t the same without our DM. You have a great sense of style and your snapchats are on point.

This was finally the GDQ I wanted to have with you, and it was worth the wait. You are such a fun and wonderful person, and your art is amazing. I had a blast and can’t wait until August.

OMG your perler designs are so amazing! I just love your creativity, and the detail is incredible.

It’s always so nice to catch up at GDQs. I know you struggle sometimes with being at big conventions, but like me, you’re great at 1 on 1 conversations. I’m proud that you put yourself out in situations that may not be the most comfortable in order to stretch yourself. I also appreciate your generosity towards Tess.

Amazing speedrunner who runs lots of games. I think we’ve only maybe spoken a couple words in person, but I am in awe of your skill in running so many games so well. You’re a machine.

It was great hanging out with you more this time around! Sharing that moment in the stream room when we hit 3 million was unforgettable. I love your quiet solid presence.

My fellow Disney speedrunner! Anyone with the chops to run Mickey Mousecapades is amazing in my book, that game is terrible 😄 It was nice at least getting to see you and chat a little after you came back from Karaoke.

We’ve hung out at many GDQs, but I finally got a chance to get to know you a bit this time! I feel like you’re a lot like me, much more comfortable when talking 1 on 1 instead of in a group! You also have a great smile! I’m glad to hear that you are doing well and hope you get to move back to Texas soon.

Although I tease you about not liking your kind, it was super fun to play some games with you this week. I hope you are feeling better. Sorry I forgot your name at SGDQ!

It was so cool to live in the same town as you, plus getting to meet your parents again was great. They are so hospitable! I’ll continue to pray for you as you move into your new job! P.S. I like your new haircut

I just love your heart for your large family and your dedication to them. I’m jealous of your fighting game skills! Thanks for being a long time watcher of the stream.

It was awesome meeting you and Rachel. Thanks for joining in on some games with us, you both were so much fun to hang out with! #boardgamecrew

I know I saw you at SGDQ, but I don’t think we ever spoke. We should fix that next time! If you see me make sure to come and say hi!

Definitely the most loyal supporter of my stream and consistent mod, plus a pretty great streamer in his own right. Thanks for being my bot.

It was so cool getting to meet you, thanks for including me at the gym. Also, so funny that we sat across from eachother on the lobby couches and never said anything. xD Hopefully we get to hang out more next time.

It was so nice to meet you both! I can tell you are so committed to what you do, and I can’t wait to see the completed project. Really hoping I make the final cut!

I wish we could have hung out more, but it was great seeing you at the bar! I always enjoy your tweets. I think you and Spike and perfect for eachother. I’m going to come visit you in Chicago. Yes, I’m inviting myself over.

Your personal growth since I met you in 2017 has been so cool to watch. You’re a very authentic person and I appreciate reading your tweets. I hope you can see how far you’ve come. I know it’s hard for you to get to GDQs but if you ever can again let’s hang out.

Thanks for being such a positive force in my chat. You are always so encouraging, even if just stopping by on a work break. Also, if I ever go to ESA bring me cookies, please and thanks.

You are relatively new to my stream, but already you have been so positive and generous. I’m glad you find my stream to be a peaceful place to hang out.

I feel like I can understand the struggle you have trying to juggle streaming, family and work, but you still manage to be so energetic, funny and creative on your stream. You have come up with some stuff that I never would have thought of. P.S. Too bad I can’t host you anymore, I found out I’m not old enough to watch Windwaker.

I really missed seeing you at SGDQ, but at least we got to hang out at Kungfu’s for a bit! You have a really nice smile.

I didn’t get to hang out with you much at this GDQ, but in the past you’ve been my partner in crime helping with the Girls on Fire stuff. Thanks for always being there when I need you.

I love your quirkiness, and you and Kaahlan seem to be a great match. Sometimes I feel like you don’t say much, but then when you do interject something it’s always so funny.

My longest running mod and a great streamer in your own right, I appreciate your monthly streams. 😄 Really though, your presence in chat always makes everything better, your accent is the best, and your taste in chocolate is even improving.

I’ve seen you around Twitter a lot but don’t really know much about you. I’m woefully ignorant about samurai rabbits.

One of my favorite streams to hang out in and a great gamer. I admire how you don’t mind taking risks and speak your mind so openly. Also, you calling out the whole evil team in that Avalon game was a highlight of SGDQ. #minionsofmordred4life

You’re a great organizer, a generous person and such a sweetheart! I still have the pug pin you gave me, thanks for being such a smiling presence at GDQs.

I feel so lucky that I got to spend so much time with you this year! LA wouldn’t have been the same without you, and I am still honored that you picked me as your teammate. You are fun, quirky, genuine and I am glad to count you as one of my friends.

Long time member of my stream whom I have also had the pleasure of meeting in person. You always bring a positive and happy energy to my chat. I’m impressed also by your tenacity in pursuing your dance competition dreams!

I’ve seen your name around a lot!

You have such a sweet presence! It always seems like we never get to spend any quality time together but I’ve always wanted to.

A great LM runner who also did Sunshine for a while. I think you were at SGDQ, but we didn’t really have a chance to connect! Let’s make sure to say Hi next time!

I appreciate your dedication to running Sega Saturn games! I only wish I could be so focused.

It was great getting to hang out and talk more outside of GDQ this year. Your energy and charisma is infectious and you always make me laugh. I was so sad that you had to leave early and we didn’t get to play poker. Maybe this August? Yes? Yes.

P.S. Use the bottom hatch dummy.

You are beast at pinball and I’m glad your run at SGDQ went so well! You are also one of the most open people I know and I respect you for it.

I’ve watched you for a long time, all the way from the Isaac to Town of Salem to Slay the Spire. You have great taste in games and one of my favorite streams to lurk in!

I always enjoy catching up on “real life” stuff with you. I’m glad to hear your found your calling and hope you can find a good local community equal to your online one!

You’re really tall and also a nice gamer. It was fun playing board games with you.

I never know what you’ll have up your Sleeve. Glad I could bring your to your first escape room, be your chauffeur and get to know you a bit better! You’re hilarious. Thanks for the ten dollars.

I know we didn’t have a ton of time to talk, but thanks for coming up and saying goodbye. I always enjoy seeing your pictures after the event, can’t wait for the PHOTODUMP!

Hey girl! Thanks for always being a smiling face at GDQ, though sometimes I have to cover my ears when we play board games together! xD We didn’t get to play any this time, let’s fix that for next time! Thanks for DMing me afterwards.

*Touches arm* That game of Mountains of Madness was insane. So glad you could jump in and play with us. *Stops touching arm*

It’s been great to hang out with you, even outside of GDQs. Playing board games with you is great, even though you refuse to go out to eat with us. Thanks for being part of the front row cheering squad. #wearethenight

Your friends don’t dance and if they don’t dance then they’re no friends of mine.

Thanks for being one of the few with the patience to get good at Quackshot! I have loved to get to spend time in your stream, and it’s so cool to see all the positive things happening in your life!

I’ve known you from the old Sunshine days, but now we only compete in steps. I love reading your tweets and catching up on how you are doing these days.

I didn’t recognize your name, but it seems from your Twitter profile that you have a really wonderful family and life! I want to see pics of that Basset Hound!

It was so cool to finally get to connect with you a bit. Thanks for teaching me about powerlifting. #gymbuddies

One of the first people I followed on Twitch! It’s been great getting to know you. I really appreciate your heart for charity and your willingness to help people. Thanks for taking me running this year.

I haven’t had a lot of interactions with you at GDQs, but what I have seen is very energetic!

I didn’t recognize your name, but it looks like you love Mario Maker 2!

One of my oldest Twitch friends, I was sad that you weren’t at GDQ this year, and also that I couldn’t come down and see you when you were passing through Minneapolis. I’ve always appreciated your wry sense of humor. Thanks for picking me up from the airport… I realize I still owe you a drink for that #oops.

We got to hang out more at last GDQ than this one, but I still appreciate your fun, laid back attitude. I like that I can give you a hard time and you take it in stride.

The absolute love of my life and shade of my heart. Thanks for supporting me and always being there for me. You’re the most loyal and responsible man I’ve ever met. You’re my favorite and I wouldn’t want to do life without you.

I’ll admit, I think your stream and twitter are pretty toxic, so I was pleasantly surprised when I met you in person. You were very polite and friendly, so I appreciated being able to meet you. I admire your persistence when it comes to speedrunning.

I didn’t recognize the name, but I stopped by your stream and dropped a follow, you seem super nice.

You come across as a little reserved at first, but you have such a great personality and sense of humor. Although we didn’t get to play poker it was just as fun seeing you and P4ntz go toe to toe in Citadels.

One of the most positive and encouraging people on Twitter. I never see you post anything but uplifting things.

I met you through Bouncey, but now I call you my friend. Thanks for cheering me on at the NWC. Thanks for running the meme game tourney for so long. You’re an hilarious person and a joy to be around.

OG NWC crew. Seriously you were so positive and friendly and made the whole trip better. I hope we can run into each other again someday.

It’s been cool to see you grow as you figure out how to be a part of the Twitch community. I hope I’ve been a help to you!

I was sad that I didn’t see you at SGDQ, it was cool getting to talk games with you at previous GDQs. You even tried Mickey Mania, which is very brave. #girlsonfire

You’re my positive pastebin

I know I saw you at GDQ, but I don’t know if I got to say hi. I don’t think your hair was purple anymore. I really love your designs, and I think you’re amazingly creative.

I was so excited when I got to meet you at AGDQ, since you are one of the OG SMW runners, then we actually had a really great conversation. I like your Mario pants and your puppy.

How did I not see you the whole time at SGDQ?! I found you through Sunshine and was impressed at how quickly you improved, but now you run so many games. I don’t know how you have time for all of them!

I always enjoy talking with you and learning about the new speedgames you are working on. Your dedication to speedrunning is such an inspiration to me! #twinsies

When I first met you at last GDQ I was so impressed by how well spoken and mature you were. Now this year, I can see you’ve grown even more, and it was awesome to hang out at the beach with you.

This was finally the GDQ I wanted to have with you, and it was worth the wait. You are such a fun and wonderful person, and your art is amazing. I had a blast and can’t wait until August.

I didn’t recognize your name, wondering if perhaps you have a different Twitch username?

I didn’t recognize the name, but your Twitter profile says you are from Chicago

I was awesome getting to see you and meet your daughter at GDQ! I appreciate your support of the stream even though I know things are always so busy for you. Sorry to hear about your house!

I don’t think I got to meet you at GDQ, but it looks like you did some hosting, are absolutely beautiful and are the same age as me! Let’s make sure we connect next time!

One of the old Sunshine runners. I feel like I’ve known you for a long time but haven’t seen you around lately.

My #1 homie! After last time, I was so glad you could come and we got to hang out so much. Being around you is always a ton of fun. Your infectious energy makes everyone love you, so thanks for making so much time for me! #tier0 #Illneversabotageyou

We got to speak VERY briefly in the board game room, but I was glad you said hi!

I don’t recognize the name, looks like you’ve been making Mario Maker levels though!

It was great getting to hang out with you and the Symmetry Squad. I was telling Ella about how friendly you guys were and how I felt so welcomed by you. Sorry I called you Joey. xD

#1 OG roomie. I’m so glad you didn’t murder me 4 years ago. One of the most open-minded, funny, and loyal people I’ve ever met. I always have the best time with you. Thanks for being my friend.

I know I’ve seen you around a bunch, maybe met you in Bouncey’s chat? Not sure.

Thanks for all the work you do at GDQ. I wish we could have played a board game together, maybe next time! Thanks for coming over and saying hi when we were playing citadels anyway!

I always felt bad about how you left GOF, but I was really impressed by how you handled the whole situation. Also, you made like 100 burritos and brought them all the way to GDQ. You’ve got some things going for you!

I don’t recognize the name, but it looks like you have a really cool retro channel!

Every time I’ve spoken to you you were drunk, but I’d love to talk sometime when you’re sober

GDQ isn’t complete without board game time with you, and it was great getting to know you outside of GDQ a little more as well! It was great kick(start)ing it with you this week. P.S. Get your butt off the floor and start saying things.

No, YOU’RE the nicest!

My Girls on Fire teammate, I’ve missed you the last few GDQs, your baking is on point!

Hey, I hope that paper on speedrunning is going well! I heard you have a first draft done already.

Ninja buddy! I’m so proud of myself that I recognized you even without your trademark ‘stache. Now that I finally got to hang out with you I realize what a funny genuine person you are.

I don’t know you, but I can’t wait to try Wiggler Woods. DM me. 😄

It was great meeting you, getting to be your ninja buddy and do an escape room, plus get to hear about your heart for helping people.

A wonderful woman streamer, amazing accent, and such a sweet person. I can’t even count how many raids you’ve given me, but thank you.

Although you can’t seem to decide whether you want to follow me or not, it’s still nice when you stop by the stream! I admire your dedication to the Playstation.

I recognize your name and I know you stream retro and tank games.

I didn’t see you at this GDQ, but I think you came in and used our microwave once. You look like you would give good hugs.

One of the first people I followed on Twitch, who has become a good friend. Thanks for making time for me in LA. Your laughter is infectious. Your fro is perfect. You always make me smile.

It was great to get to know you more outside of GDQ this year! You always take such good care of your girlfriend, and just generally have such a caring heart. Also, 10/10 hugs. Not bad at Smash either.

I’m so proud of what you’ve grown your stream to be. I’m glad I was an encouragement to you when you started, but you really did all the hard work. I wish we could have talked more at GDQ, but you really have your own community now and that’s so cool to see.

It looks like you were at GDQ hanging with the SMW crew and now I’m mad because I didn’t get to meet you and you look like an amazingly positive lady.

I don’t know if we ever spoke at GDQ. Anyway, you’re a Kingdom Hearts 2 streamer, come and set me straight if I’m wrong.

One of the most prolific speedrunners of terrible games that I know. Also a stand-up guy and always willing to help out when I have a question. Congrats man!

It was great to hear about you work with your church and also your plans to work in Forensics in the future. I like your laid-back vibes.

I love your bubbly personality so much! I’m glad we got to see more of you this SGDQ, doing the escape room was super fun. Also, thanks for the Nerds, nerd.

One of the old Sunshine crew, though now you play LM mostly. Great memer.

We’ve hung out at several GDQs, but this time I got to appreciate what a calculated strategist you are! I feel like you always know what’s going on way more than I do! xD

I don’t recognize the name, but it looks like you have a really cool retro channel!

I don’t recognize the name, but it looks like you have a really cool retro channel!

Thanks for playing Citadels with me! It was really fun getting to know you better when I could get you to focus. xD

I don’t recognize the name, but it looks like you’re a really fun retro runner!

I don’t recognize the name, feel free to stop by the stream and say hello!

Didn’t recognize your twitter name, stop by the stream sometime and introduce yourself!

I don’t recognize your name, but feel free to come into my stream and say hi sometime!

I don’t know if we’ve ever spoken, stop by my chat and say hi!

I don’t recognize your name, but you should stop by and say hi sometime!

I don’t recognize your name, so you should stop by and say hi!

Some few of you may have been wondering where I have been the past couple of months. There have been a few factors that have prevented me from streaming as much:

1. My business
Some of you know I own my own advertising company, and we celebrated 10 years this January. Work has always been steady, but recently it has been ridiculously busy. This is a really great problem to have, but it leaves me with less energy to stream at night, and I hate streaming when I’m feeling tired and not 100%.

2. My internet
My internet has never been good, but recently it has been downright terrible. I am taking some steps to try to make it better, but it has always been an uphill battle. Also, GBM has really got into PUBG lately, which I am glad about, but also makes it impossible to stream while he is playing, due to our internet limitations.

3. My computer
My streaming computer is really old, and sometimes I have to fight with it to get it to turn on. Or sometimes the webcam won’t work. Or OBS won’t start. Or one of a million other little issues that come up that cause me to have to delay or cancel a stream.

All of this to say, I haven’t stopped streaming, but I have stopped trying to keep a schedule altogether. It’s just too hectic in my life right now. This also goes to all the people who have messaged me wondering about emotes or other design work. I really enjoy doing that sort of work, but I get burned out quickly when I take all my free time to do extra design work outside of my business. That being said, please still ask, but also understand if I don’t get back to you very quickly!

Thanks for all the people who still stop by and enjoy my streams. I appreciate you guys a ton.

Honey Season 1 is starting April 2nd. For the month of April, save up your honey and whoever is in the top spot at the end of the month will win a special prize! Previous honey will be going bye-bye, so everyone will start on an even playing field. Earn honey by hanging out and chatting in my channel, or playing the “Objection game”. The prize will vary from season to season, it could be the chance to pick a Finisher Friday game, a custom postcard from me, or something else cool!

Honey Seasons Marathon – April 1st
To celebrate the start of the first Honey Season and revel in just how much honey we have, we are going to do a marathon! Every hour there will be a bidding war with honey, with the winner choosing the game. You can only win the bid once, so feel free to spend all your honey, it will be gone soon anyway!

BOTW Collectors Guide Giveaway
To make this even more exciting, I am giving away a beautiful Breath of the Wild Complete Guide collectors edition hardcover. This book is gorgeous, I have been sorely tempted to unwrap it and look inside, but I’ve resisted (so far). See below for how you can enter!

Can we call it spring yet? No? How about now?

Regardless of the actual season, I’ve got some fun events coming up in the next couple of months.

1.<del> Golden’s 12 Hour Challenge – February 11th & 12th</del>
This will be my 3rd challenge I’ve participated in, and I’m really looking forward to finally learning Castle of Illusion for the Genesis. This will include a long stream for learning on Saturday, followed by a race with Drako_Dan on Sunday. This will be my SGDQ submission for this year if it goes well and I like speedrunning the game.

2. <del>Best of Nintendon’t Marathon – </del><del>February 17-24 – My slot is Tuesday, Feb. 21 3:50 – 5:50 CST</del>
I will be playing Quackshot and Castle of Illusion for this non-Nintendo themed marathon! This isn’t necessarily a speedrunning event, so I won’t have to feel too pressured for either of these games to be perfect.

3. Breath of the Wild <del>release day</del> stream – March <del>3</del> 5
Usually I’m not a day one pre-order kind of person, but for Breath of the Wild I’m making an exception. I had to go out of town on the 3rd, so this stream will be Sunday night.

4. SNES Superstar marathon – March 10-19 – My slot is March 16 at 5pm CST
Mickey Mania JP has been accepted! I will have to derust for this at some point, but this will also allow me to make that tutorial I’ve been promising for <del datetime="2017-02-06T17:20:25+00:00">months</del> years.<del> Again, will keep you posted on what time slot I am given. </del>

5. NEW! Honey Marathon – April 1
Bring your honey and bid for me to play your favorite game! This will be your last chance to use up your honey before the official start of HONEY SEASONS April 2nd! More to come on that later…

Other than that, stream growth has been amazing and keeping a steady schedule each week has been easier than anticipated. I don’t know when we will hit 7K (we still have a ways to go) but when we do, I think maybe we will do a random Disney marathon! Thanks everyone for hanging out and making my stream a great place to be.

For each follower special, I’ve tried to do something a little different. Since 5,000 is such a milestone, I want it to be extra memorable. So here’s what I’ve decided to do:

I want you to mail me a postcard from your hometown or state (or country).

I just got a PO Box, so I would love to get some messages and collect some postcards from my Twitch friends around the country and world. If you write a game you would like me to play on the back, then I will play that game for at least an hour during the marathon and show off the front of your postcard on stream. See the game list below if you are wondering which games I own.

I’m going to plan to do the marathon sometime towards the end of August, just to give international postcards time to arrive. I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Saturday, May 14th, 9am – 9pm
This 4K marathon is dedicated to all the people that come and hang out with me on stream. You guys are awesome.

How this will go (hopefully).
I am planning on having a bidding war using Honey, every hour, with the winner picking the game for the next hour. Type “!honey” to see how much you have. Currently my bot does not support bidding, so I think I will just have people call out bids in chat by typing “bid XXX”. I will announce the starting bid, and the bids will go until I post a countdown in chat. Whoever wins will have the honey they bid subtracted from their account. They will then pick the game for the next hour. You can only win a bid once. If the winning bidder does not have enough honey to cover the bid, then it will go to the next highest bidder, and so on.

Picking a game
You can choose a game from the game list above, but feel free to also choose a category if it’s a speedgame, or just add a silly restriction just for fun.

Extra grand prize – $20 steam card!
At the end of the stream, I will raffle off a $20 Steam card as an extra “thank you” to everyone! You must be present to win, it will be a live raffle. The person who wins will be responsible for providing their address so I can mail the card to them.

Game suggestions
If you don’t know which game to pick, here are a few ideas:
Games I’m partway through already: Twilight Princess, Banjo Tooie, Undertale, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Paper Mario: TTYD
Games I’m really into right now: Super Mario World, Enter the Gungeon, Mario Maker
Games to make me suffer: Batman Forever, Amnesia, Emmitt Smith Football, The Lion King

Extra tidbits about honey and ranking
Your rank in stream is defined by hours spent in stream, not your amount of honey, so you will maintain your rank, even if you spend all your honey. I have added a new command !rank, so that people can request their rank and have it visible to others. I have also upped the honey follow bonus to 50 for the marathon.

We have a few fun things coming up soon, so I thought I would write a quick post detailing what’s on the agenda. I usually go to Twitter with these things, but until they extend their character limit to 20,000 or so, I guess this will have to do.

Honey-a-thon Recap

Honey-a-thon was a great success! We had a great group of people who enjoyed the motley assortment of games I was privileged to play, including ToeJam and Earl, Banjo Tooie, Splatoon, Donkey Kong 2 & 3 and many more! I sang “Under the Sea” (mostly in the correct key) and Pixel received many tasty snacks. We raised $456 towards my hotel fees at SGDQ! While I am fortunate to be very close to the event itself (within driving distance), I am also fortunate to be a married lady, which cuts down on roommate possibilites. This money will greatly help me to stay for as long as I can in my own room. Thank you so much to all who participated!

4K Follower Special

This has been on the horizon for a while. Some may think I’ve forgotten about it, but really I got to about 1390 followers and stalled there for a while. I didn’t really mind this, but it’s hard to have a follower special without the followers! Now we are much closer, so hopefully the 4K marathon will be right around the corner.

The plan is to do a Honey-a-thon style marathon, but intead of having people donate real money, there will be a bidding war with honey each hour, with the winner choosing the game. I think this will be a fun way to reward the regulars on my channel for hanging out in the channel so often, yet still fun for new people to watch.

Bros Before Rogues

I’ve invited my brother, the inestimable Json_Brown to come and play some coop rogue-likes with me. We’ve had an entertaining time in the past playing Spelunky, but I would like to try some of the newer offerings, such as Enter the Gungeon. Look forward to lots of yelling, cheering, crying and indigestion as we grow closer together and/or tear our relationship apart through the wonderful experience that is rogue-likes.

How to get your donation comment read at a GDQ

So you’ve decided to be generous and send some of your hard-earned cash off to GDQ. Good for you! Why not make sure your comment has the best chance of being read out loud for all to hear?

First, here’s a quick explanation about how the donation process works. There are 3 levels of vounteers that the donations go through to be read on air: donation readers, head donation readers, and the host. The donation readers scan through the donations and pick out good ones to be read. The head donation reader re-reads them for content and does a little bit more sorting, sending the best few to the host. The host gets the final pick and decides based on length, relevance, amount of donation, if they recognize the name, and various other factors. As a host I would usually get 1-2 donations every 5 minutes, way too many to read, so if they were too long or complicated I usually would just clear them off without reading them. Some longer ones that were good I would hold for in between games. The shorter ones I would try to sneak in when I could.

Having been a host (donation reader) at SGDQ, I wanted to give some tips for making sure your donation makes it on the air.

1. Give during a slow time.
This one is fairly obvious, but if you’re one of only a couple donators at the time, you will get read for sure! Usually the middle of the night (USA time) is a great opportunity to give.

2. Give during a slower game.
If a game doesn’t seem to have much commentary going on or a lot of auto-scroller sections, it means more donations will get read.

3. Don’t give during your favorite game.
Everyone may want to get their donation in during Zelda or Mario runs to get in on the special prize drawings, but you will have lots of competition.

4. Do give during your favorite runner’s stream.
If you are a regular in someone’s channel, you might have an in. One runner actually gave me a list of people’s names to make sure their donation would be read if they chose to donate. Also, if the host knows the runner well, he/she might recognize your name also.

5. Be creative…
A funny, creative, or heartfelt message will be more likely to get pushed to the front of the line. It’s great to say good luck to all the runners, but literally everyone says this. Also note that nothing vulgar or offensive ever gets through.

6. …But keep it short!
There were so many really good donations that I just couldn’t fit in. A donation reader is always looking for places to jump in when there is a break in the action, and it is much easier to fit in a donation that is only 1 or 2 sentences. I loved your novel about your relatives that are cancer free, but there is just no way.

And last but not least…

7. Give a LOT.
Of course not everyone can give a lot of money, but if you give more than $200 I would say your chances of getting read goes up significantly. Of course, take this with a grain of salt, because on the last night of SDGQ last year, it was more around $500. The more popular the game, generally the higher the figure.

I hope this helps you hear your name read out loud at a GDQ. Of course, even if you don’t get read on air, you still gave to a great cause! Thanks for being so generous.
